The difference
Sports massage is not just a firm massage
The treatment itself is only part of it. What makes sports massage different from a generic deep massage is that it starts by working out why the tissue is unhappy, looking at your training load, your movement patterns and your history, and finishes by giving you something to do about it.
Pain is usually a symptom rather than the problem. Tight calves that keep flaring up might be a calf issue, or they might be a hip that is not extending properly, forcing the calf to do work it was never meant to do. Rubbing the calf will help for a week. Finding the hip restriction changes the season.
The process
How a session works
Assessment
We go through your activity levels, training demands, lifestyle, goals and any areas of pain or restriction, then look at how you move. This is where we identify the root cause rather than the loudest symptom.
Treatment
A combination of sports massage, deep tissue work, assisted stretching, myofascial cupping and kinesiology taping where appropriate, selected for your problem rather than applied as a fixed routine. The aim is to reduce tension, restore mobility and support recovery.
Aftercare
A personalised plan sent straight to your phone: targeted stretches, strengthening work, recovery advice and practical adjustments. This is what stops you needing us every fortnight forever.
Built for people who train
Who we treat
Runners
Calf and Achilles tightness, IT band irritation, runner’s knee, tight hip flexors and hamstrings, plus pre- and post-event work. Whether you are building to your first 5K or backing up marathons, the repetitive loading of running creates predictable restrictions, and they respond well to treatment. See sports massage for runners.
Gym-goers, lifters and CrossFit athletes
Being based inside a gym is not a coincidence. Restricted thoracic spine limiting your overhead position, tight hips blocking depth in the squat, lats and shoulders that never quite recover between sessions. These are the issues we see most, and they are as much a performance problem as a pain problem.
Cyclists and golfers
Sustained flexed positions on the bike, and rotational demand through the golf swing, both produce specific and treatable patterns: tight hip flexors, restricted thoracic rotation, and lower back tension that shows up long after the activity.
Anyone who stays active
You do not need to be an athlete. Whether you walk, swim, play five-a-side, do classes or just want to keep moving well, the approach is the same: find what is restricting you, treat it, and give you a plan to keep it that way.

- Mobility. Restoring range of movement at restricted joints and tissue
- Posture. Addressing the imbalances behind everyday discomfort
- Recovery. Between hard sessions, or either side of an event
FAQs
Common questions
Does it hurt?
It can be intense, but it should not be painful. A muscle that is bracing against pressure will not release, so the pressure is calibrated to what your tissue accepts. Mild soreness the following day is normal.
60 or 90 minutes?
60 minutes suits one or two specific areas. Choose 90 if you have multiple problem areas, a longer-standing issue, or want a full-body reset with more assessment time.
How often should I come?
It depends on training load and what we find. Someone in a heavy block or rehabbing an injury might benefit from fortnightly sessions initially; for general maintenance, every four to six weeks is common. We will tell you what we actually think you need. More detail: how often should you get a massage?
Should I book before or after an event?
Both work, but they are different treatments. Pre-event work is lighter and aimed at readiness, so book it a few days out rather than the night before. Post-event work can be deeper once the initial soreness has settled.
